The European Forum for Architectural Policies
The European Forum for Architectural Policies was established to ensure regular exchange of information through its informal network for the dialogue on architectural policy, and enable individual countries to form their own architectural policies corresponding to their peculiar features but based on the shared experiences with a view to improving the quality of the built environment. The Hungarian presidency aims to reinforce the representation of professional interests in the EU Commission and promote regular co-operation in issues relating to architecture between the Member States and the institutions of the European Union.
The European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR)
From an overall European perspective, the EU Strategy for the Danube Region has a symbolic significance: it clearly indicates the increasing interdependence of the Member States in the period of globalisation. Macro-regions as units of development may contribute significantly to reducing differences in regional development within the European Union. The value of crossborder co-operation and the establishment of local and regional relations have increased, in view of the common matters a Member State is unable to manage on its own. The European Union will approve of the submitted communication and action plan of the European Commission during the Hungarian Presidency.
3 Year Old Boy Found Alive In Cooler
One of my coworkers has been going over to Pleasant Grove a good bit to volunteer. And amid all the disaster stories (trust me, there's a lot), one really stood out to me. Some volunteer workers found a 3 year old baby in a cooler. It had been surviving inside for 4 days. They found the cooler, by chance, while pulling it from the rubble of one of the many destroyed houses in the neighborhood.

Written by Sarah Evans, George Mason University
The following account is that of a friend and coworker. I have decided to publicize this incident because it impacts me as a student and as a strong believer in social justice. I think it’s important to speak up on his behalf.
Tuesday, March 8, 2011 was like any other weekday at George Mason University. One student’s quest for an empty study room was met after a long search in Fenwick Library. Little did he know picking that study room, that day would forever change his life.

Wikileaks - Escape from Iran on horseback
On January 7, 2009 Vahedi began his odyssey -- first by bus to the city of Urmia and then with a driver into the foothills of the Zagros Mountains. There he met two men with a horse who would escort him to the Turkish border. According to Vahedi's account, related in the cable, he "did not have clothing appropriate for the weather and had a very difficult time with the cold. As an inexperienced rider hours into the climb Vahedi lost his concentration and fell off the horse tumbling into the woods." The horse appeared to know exactly where it was going, and was often ahead of his guides, Vahedi later told U.S. officials. He speculated that it might have been used on the route many times before to smuggle drugs across the border.
Priorities and programme of the Hungarian EU Presidency in the first half of 2011
On 10 November 2010 the Hungarian government adopted the draft programme of the Hungarian EU Presidency. The document is in constant evolution on the basis of the progression of the dossiers under the Belgian Presidency and will be finalised after the December European Council.
Hungarian Presidency program in context
The Hungarian Presidency is the last member of the Spanish-Belgian-Hungarian trio. Therefore, its programme fits into the trio programme and the priorities are built on the results delivered by the Spanish and Belgian Presidencies.
During the first half of 2011, Europe needs to concentrate on the reinforcement of the economy and on job creation so as to make growth sustainable and the recovery from the crisis irreversible. 2010 has been characterized by decision making and planning. Some important lessons from the crisis have been learned and political decisions made to reinforce economic co-ordination, strengthen the control of fiscal discipline and to elaborate the framework with a view to the long term competitiveness of the European economy. 2011 will be the year of action: we will start the implementation of the decisions taken in 2010 and use the opportunities offered by the new policies introduced by the Lisbon Treaty. Besides measures with a long term perspective, the Hungarian Presidency will do its utmost to ensure the adoption of the 2011 budget in the shortest time possible.
